Golf sensation Scottie Scheffler has been dealt a significant blow heading into the BMW Championship, as he’s set to be without his regular caddie.

Ted Scott has been with Scheffler for every stroke over the past four years. However, he had to rush back home to Louisiana due to a family emergency on the weekend.

The world No. 1 used a chaplain and close friend, Brad Payne , for the final round at the FedEx St. Jude on Sunday. Unfortunately, the situation won’t change this week, as he will still be without Scott, whose return date is unknown.

The nature of the caddie’s family emergency remains unclear, but Scheffler will likely be asked questions about it this week.

In the meantime, Mike Cromie will fill in for Scott.
