AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - After a Hephzibah teen died suddenly in his sleep over two years ago, those who knew him are still doing everything they can to give back in his honor.
In early 2023, 16-year-old Nathan Hibbitts went to sleep excited for his driver’s test , and never woke up. Medical examiners ruled the cause to be an enlarged heart.
Now, family and friends are coming together for the 3rd annual Chip-It 4 Hibbitts Memorial Golf Tournament in honor of the young man’s life cut way too short.
Family friend Blake Bibbins tells us that all proceeds go towards scholarships to assist local students in pursuing higher education.
Bibbins says that over the last two years, they have raised roughly $16,000 for the cause.
