AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We spoke to the brother of the man who drowned in Strom Thurmond Lake.

Michael Maddox, who has family ties to Harlem, drowned while trying to help his partner get across a part of the lake.

Michael’s brother, Jeremy, says he was known for his love of animals, his family and his friends.

As the community remembers him, Jeremy says they find comfort knowing he’s at peace.

Jeremy said his brother loved being outdoors.
