Formal charges have been filed against the alleged shooter in a downtown Birmingham shooting that left a man dead and a woman injured.

Terrance Akeem Alexand, 37, of Pinson, is charged with murder in the slaying of 31-year-old Taevon Jamir Arnold.

Alexander, who was taken into custody in less than 24 hours of the Friday killing, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 11:25 a.m. Monday.

He is also charged with first-degree assault and two counts of discharging a firearm into a building or vehicle, according to court records made public Tuesday night.

Alexander is being held on bonds totaling $120,000.

The shooting was captured on surveillance cameras. It happened just before 6 p.m. Friday.
