Two teenage girls were 'assaulted' during a sex attack in the Midlands.

The girls, both 15, were said to be walking on a path near to a field when they were approached by a male.

They were both then sexually assaulted, police said.

The girls walked away and told someone in the area about what had happened, StokeonTrentLive reports.

Staffordshire Police were alerted at 12.35pm.

The incident took place off Short Bambury Street, in Adderley Green, on Tuesday, August 12.

A 39-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on a female and possessing a controlled drug of class B – cannabis.

He remains in custody for questioning.
