Jodi Hill-Lilly, the commissioner of the state Department of Children and Families, is retiring and leaving state service.

Gov. Ned Lamont said Hill-Lilly, who has served as commissioner since January 2024 and has been with the department for 37 years, will retire effective Sept. 1.

She is taking a position as the director of the Child Well-Being Program at the Doris Duke Foundation , the governor's office said.
