HARRISON COUNTY, Ohio — The Harrison County Health Department says multiple mosquito pools in the county have tested positive for West Nile virus, with samples confirmed from two locations on consecutive days.

The Ohio Department of Health laboratory first reported West Nile-positive mosquitoes from a July 22 sample collected in New Rumley. Fifty mosquitoes were tested, and officials said additional pools from that collection are still awaiting results.

A day later, on July 23, two more mosquito pools from Jewett tested positive for West Nile virus. Those traps were located on Scio Rumley Road and along part of the Conotton Creek Trail behind the old Jewett school lot.

Health officials stressed that no human cases have been reported in Harrison County. Most people infected with West Nil
