West Nile Virus has shown up in nearly every area around Massachusetts this summer, with 181 mosquito samples have testing positive for the virus so far, according to the state Department of Public Health.
While the state has categorized 10 cities and towns in Middlesex, Norfolk and Suffolk Counties as “high risk” for West Nile , mosquito samples with the virus have been found in every county except Nantucket since June 13.
So far, the only confirmed case of West Nile virus was in a goat in Lunenberg . There have been no human cases so far this year, according to DPH.
The most recent West Nile Virus detections showed up on Aug. 8 in North Attleborough, Billerica, Hudson, Marlborough, Millville, Shrewsbury and Southborough, according to the state’s virus tracking page .
