Firefighting crews continue to make progress in the battle with wildland fires in Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton.

In a media update Wednesday, Evan Lizotte, information officer with the Ministry of Natural Resources’ Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) noted that, while neither HALO19 east of Burnt River and OFR001 west of Kirkfield continue to burn out of control, efforts have successfully prevented the fires from spreading.
