BOSTON —
Several workers escaped injury Wednesday when a truck hit the scaffolding they were on in downtown Boston.
Boston Police said just before 1 p.m. an 18-wheeler hit the scaffolding on the building at the corner of School and Tremont Streets. Five workers who were on the top level of the scaffolding said they felt the jolt and were able to get off the structure safely.
The contact slightly bent a piece of the scaffolding.
The sidewalk was closed to pedestrians for a time, and work was stopped at the site. The scaffolding will be inspected Thursday before work can resume.
The 12-story building was having grinding work done.
No information about the truck or whether it stopped was immediately available.
