GARY, Ind. — A man is in police custody after he was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly searching for a student at a northwest Indiana high school while armed with a weapon.

According to a release from the Gary Community School Corporation , around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 12, an individual reportedly arrived at the campus of the West Side Leadership Academy while students were boarding busses at the end of the school day.

The news release says the man was armed with a weapon and allegedly in search of a student who had "previously harmed a relative of his."

School resource officers and Gary police officers quickly apprehended and arrested the man, according to the news release.

GCSC stressed no one was harmed during the incident.
