Syracuse, N.Y. ― A 7-year-old boy who was hit by an SUV on Almond Street on Monday is expected to live, a police spokesperson said Wednesday.

Around 2:07 p.m., an SUV struck a child in the road on Almond Street between Jackson Street and East Adams Street.

The child suffered multiple traumatic injuries. He was rushed to Upstate University Hospital. The accident was just blocks away from the hospital. He was in critical condition on Monday and Tuesday, police said.

By Wednesday, the child was no longer in critical condition, said Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for Syracuse police. The boy is considered in stable condition, he said.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. At this time, no tickets have been issued.
