SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The big moment has finally arrived for all the players on each of the 20 teams competing in the Little League World Series.
The teams began their first day with the opening ceremony at Volunteer Field in South Williamsport, walking into cheers from family and fans. For many of the players, this still feels like a dream.
"It's just an honor that our hard work is paying off and that this is just a dream that, from watching it on TV that we can just be here and show who we are," said Marek Kalavik, Mid-Atlantic player.
For others, the shock of getting to this point has sunk in, and they are now focusing their energy on the games ahead.
"Just getting on the field and playing. Just getting out there and seeing what it's like, win some games," said Luca Striltschuk
