EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Lic's Deli & Ice Cream is being sold to a new owner after being in the same family for more than six decades.

Lic's was established 75 years ago in 1950 in Evansville, with ice cream being made in the back room of one small retail store.

The current family of owners, Don Smith, Jane Smith, Jamia Brown, and Kara Combs, have been operating the business for the last 63 years.

"After 75 incredible years of serving our community, we are thrilled to announce the next chapter in the Lics Deli & Ice Cream Story... The sale of the business," a statement from Lic's says.

The Smith family is now "passing the scoop" to the new owner, Jodi Ashby.
