A 60 year-old man ended up in the emergency department after taking dietary advice from ChatGPT, according to a case report.
After reading about negative health effects of sodium chloride, or table salt, the man was disappointed that he could only find information on reducing sodium from one's diet, Audrey Eichenberger, MD, and colleagues reported in the Annals of Internal Medicine Clinical Cases .
Instead, he decided to eliminate chloride from his diet, and ChatGPT told him that chloride can be swapped with bromide, "though likely for other purposes, such as cleaning," Eichenberger and colleagues wrote.
After 3 months, he ended up in the emergency department, saying he was worried his neighbor was poisoning him.
