George Harris has died; he entered hospice with the same attitude he had lived life, “I’m ready for what’s next!” George and his late husband of 53 years, the late Jack Evans, were the first couple to get married in Texas. Imprisoned and fired for being gay, he led a lifetime of activism to improve the lives of LGBTQ people everywhere. George and Jack touched almost every organization in Dallas in one way or another, and helped secure the history of Dallas through TheDallasWay.org.
