In response to viral social media posts about missing children across the commonwealth, Virginia State Police on Wednesday put out a news release to say there is no evidence of mass abductions, and no investigations are underway.
The department oversees the Virginia Missing Children Clearinghouse, along with Critical Operation for a Disappeared Child Initiative (CODI) and America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response (AMBER) Alerts. All children in the commonwealth who are currently missing are listed in the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s database .
