A Dunwoody police officer who was being placed on administrative leave accidentally shot himself while turning over his guns to police personnel at his residence.
According to an incident report filed by Officer J. Bradley, David Perkins, who had only been working for the department for about a month, on July 27 was handing over city equipment to several members of the department, including Deputy Police Chief Oliver Fladrich, when the weapon discharged.
Perkins, according to Sgt. Michael Cheek, the department’s public information officer, “was involved in a fight in Cobb County while off duty” and was being placed on administrative leave while the matter was being investigated.
