A Mexican national residing in McAllen was sentenced to prison for being in possession of child sexual abuse materials using a virtual private network to hide his activities, of which he’s use child sex dolls to recreate videos he downloaded.

Jose Julaina Garcia Garza, 36, pleaded guilty on April 2 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas.

During his sentencing, the court heard details on how Garza used a VPN (virtual private network) to hide his illegal activities and the “likelihood” that he used child-sized sex dolls to recreate CSAM.

Garza was also ordered to pay $104,500 in restitution to 14 victims and will be on supervised release for an additional 10 years following his prison sentence
