STAUNCH liberal Joe Scarborough has extended a rare olive branch to the Trump administration while discussing the president's recent crime crackdown.

The MSNBC anchor said that Washington DC Democrats are secretly pleased to see hundreds of federal troops enforcing law and order.

On Monday, President Donald Trump stood alongside some of his most powerful cabinet members as he announced that they were going to "take back the capital."

He said he was going to federalize the police force in Washington DC and send 800 troops to help crack down on crime .

On the first day, dozens of people were arrested as the president took aim at "violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals" as well as "drugged out maniacs and homeless people," he told reporters.
