Lengendary Broncos receiver Lionel Taylor has died just shy of his 90th birthday.

Taylor played for the Broncos from 1960-66, becoming the first pro football player in 1961 to have a 100-catch season. Taylor, who died Aug. 6, would have turned 90 on Friday.

Taylor had 543 catches for 6,872 yards for Denver. That included catching 100 passes for 1,176 yards when the Broncos were in the AFL in 1961, statistics that were absorbed by the NFL when the two leagues merged in 1970.

Taylor's career began with the Chicago Bears in 1959, when he played linebacker. He also was a receiver for the Houston Oilers from 1967-68.
