CLEVELAND (WJW) – The FOX 8 I-Team has learned that the lead federal monitor overseeing Cleveland police reform has resigned.

According to the U.S. federal court docket, Karl Racine resigned from his position Wednesday afternoon.

“On August 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., the court held an informal status conference in the above captioned case with counsel for the parties and the Monitor, Karl Racine ('Monitor')," the federal docket states. "During the conference, the court informed the parties that Mr. Racine had submitted a resignation letter expressing his intent to no longer serve as Monitor of the Cleveland Consent Decree.
