Tropical Storm Erin is on track to strengthen into a major hurricane over the weekend and into early next week. It’s forecast to strengthen into our first hurricane of the Atlantic season by Friday morning and into a major hurricane by Sunday morning.

New model data as of Wednesday afternoon suggests where this system is going and the fact that the threat to the U.S. is still a possibility.

The new track from the National Hurricane Center show it becoming a Category 1 by Friday and then intensifying into a Category 3 into the weekend and early next week. This is when it will make a turn northwest. This is also, the point at which not all models agree.
