LOGAN — A 27-year-old California man has been sent to prison for sexually assaulting a child last year. Casey Paul Escalante Jr. has been in the Cache County Jail since being arrested Oct. 10, 2024.
According to court documents, Escalante appeared Aug. 6 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He previously accepted a plea deal, waiving his right to a trial, and pleading guilty to rape of a child, a first-degree felony. A second charge of sodomy on a child was dismissed.
The crime reportedly occurred around April 1, 2024, and were investigated by the Logan City Police Department.
Escalante was arrested in California, Sept. 24, 2024, after a warrant was issued by a judge. He was transferred back to Cache Valley.
