BRAINERD — The Friends of the Brainerd Public Library announced Cary J. Griffith will discuss his book, “Rattlesnake Bluff: a Sam Rivers Mystery” from noon-1 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Brainerd Public Library.

Natural history writer Griffith brings back Sam Rivers for his fifth outdoors-themed mystery — a suspenseful novel filled with fast-paced action. The appearance of a rattlesnake wouldn’t normally be enough to halt construction on Alta Vista, an upscale housing development in Southeast Minnesota’s bluff country.
