SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A Savannah man has been found guilty in federal court of possession of ammunition in connection to a October 2021 shooting.

Charlie Sapp, 58, of Savannah, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by supervised release, after a two-day trial in U.S. District Court.

He was charged with possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, Tara M. Lyons, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia said. Sapp was prohibited from possessing ammunition due to previous felony convictions in the Superior Court of Chatham County, Lyons said.
