WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - You may be wondering what a Democratic member of Congress representing part of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is doing speaking at the Noon Rotary Club in Watertown.
But for Mary Gay Scanlon, the North Country is home.
“It’s always great to reconnect with people when I’m up visiting with family in Watertown, along the St. Lawrence, and along Lake Ontario, so I got to see some folks I went to high school with,” said Scanlon.
Growing up in Watertown, Scanlon attended Colgate University and later earned her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She worked for a law firm in Philadelphia, where in 2018, she won Pennsylvania’s 5th Congressional seat. She says growing up in the north country has helped her serve in her role.
