With the public comment period on Micron’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement now over, the project is officially one step closer to breaking ground in the town of Clay. Before that can happen, however, the community wants to make sure their voices are heard.
More than 600 comments were submitted to U.S. CHIPS Program Offices and the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency, highlighting concerns like the amount of energy and water the facility will consume, wetland loss and issues with the proposed mitigation, as well as the use of forever chemicals and a lack of transparency around that use.
