SEDONA, Ariz. — The Coconino National Forest is advising the public to stay away from the area east of Village of Oak Creek due to reports of a new wildfire.

The size of the Woods Fire is estimated to be about 55 acres and smoke may be seen by surrounding communities and drivers traveling along Interstate 17.

According to fire officials, the blaze has been completely boxed in by fire retardant as of Friday morning.

The Yavapai Conuty Sheriff's Office said Village of Oak Creek residents located east of Arizona State Route 179 are under "SET" status and should be ready to evacuate if necessary. YCSO said no structures are threatened at this time.

As of Aug. 14, the fire had been "completely boxed in by retardant that was dropped by air resources," officials said.
