BOYCE, La. (KALB) - Carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) is sparking major debate in Central Louisiana.
Some community activists are planning an event to raise awareness and give residents a chance to learn more. The meeting will take place at Tunk’s Cypress Inn in Boyce on Sunday, August 18, at 6 p.m.
Organizers said the meeting will focus on concerns about CCS and will provide the public with tools to better understand the issue. Several speakers will be there, including a geologist.
The meeting is hosted by Jimbo Thiels , who said one of his biggest concerns is the possibility of a carbon dioxide leak into local aquifers.
