A firefighter was injured Wednesday battling a brush fire that scorched an acre in steep terrain in Highland Park.
Dubbed the Pasadena Fire, the blaze was reported at about 1 p.m. Wednesday in Ernest E. Debs Regional Park, near the Pasadena (110) Parkway and the 300 block of South Avenue 52.
Quickly mobilized air and ground units contained and knocked down the blaze by about 1:30 p.m. No structures were threatened by the topography-driven fire as it burned in steep terrain, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“One of the first arriving LAFD firefighters to engage in the relentless 40 minutes firefight is now being medically examined and treated for apparent heat exhaustion. No other injuries reported,” Humphrey said in a statement.
