AUGUSTA, Maine (WMTW) - The real-life inspiration behind one of horror’s most haunted dolls is coming to Maine.

The real “Annabelle” doll, made famous in “The Conjuring” film series, will be available to see on Sept. 6 and 7 at the Augusta Civic Center as part of the Maine Paranormal & Horror Convention.

The doll’s permanent home is at the Warrens’ Occult Museum in Connecticut, a museum established in 1952 by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who claimed the doll was demonically possessed, could move on its own and inflict “psychic slashes” capable of drawing blood. Whether the Warrens’ were genuine believers of the supernatural or simply scammers and fraudsters has been the subject of debate over the decades; nevertheless their legacy lives on through horror fiction.
