The Wawa adjacent to Grand Cypress Marketplace in Saint Johns is expanding its fueling options with the addition of Tesla charging stations, the location’s first offering for electric vehicles.

The store is at 54 Cypress Edge Drive south of Racetrack Road and east of U.S. 1.

St. Johns County issued a building permit Aug. 13 for 11 charging stations at a project cost of $150,000.

Aaron Construction Services of Southwest Ranches is the installer.

Tesla.com says its charging stations are “coming soon.” The site says Tesla operates the world’s largest fast-charging network, with more than 70,000 Superchargers located on major routes and available at all hours, offering up to 200 miles of range in 15 minutes. It also says Tesla offers charging at hotels, restaurants and other locations.
