The fight to become the Northland Invitational’s 100th champion begins Thursday at Northland Country Club.
The field of 200 will play a stroke play round to set the brackets for a match-play tournament culminating on Sunday afternoon.
Defending champion Alex Kolquist will attempt to be the first golfer to successfully defend the tournament championship since Jordan Hawkinson in 2013. The golfer he defeated 5-and-4 in last year’s final, Tucker D’Allaird, is also back in the field. The University of North Dakota golfer finished in a tie for sixth in the state open championship in Rochester in July.
Five-time champion Dan Moline will be competing. Moline, who was in contention at the Cloquet Invitiational in July, last won this tournament in 2014 after a run of four wins in six years from
