WEBER COUNTY — Around 15 to 20 structures have been threatened by a wildfire that broke out on the mountainside above North Ogden.

Utah Fire Info reports, the Willard Peak Fire started just before 3 p.m. Wednesday in the foothills in north Weber County.

A large plume of smoke could be seen from across the Weber Valley, climbing up the mountain at Willard Peak, and blowing into the south end of Cache Valley.

Fire fighters report the blaze started from a vehicle fire and is burning uphill through gamble oak.

Multiple helicopters have been dropping water on the flames. Ground crews have also been trying to protect nearby homes.

Officials with North Ogden have asked the public to stay away from the area and keep roads open for emergency crews.
