TEXARKANA, Ark. (KSLA) - Students in the Texarkana, Arkansas School District returned to class on Wednesday, Aug. 13.

Superintendent Dr. Lloyd Jackson says over 3,600 students are expected to attend this year.

“There is nothing like the beginning of school I attend it to Christmas Day gifts to us in the education world.”

Jackson says they are focusing on behavior, literacy and attendance this year.

“This year, we are expecting some outstanding opportunities for our students as we progress through the year.”

Last year, the district was involved in a pilot program banning cell phone use during school hours. Now, the program is Ark. state law. School leaders say this should further help them achieve their educational goals.
