THOMPSON’S STATION, Tenn. (WSMV) - Thompson’s Station residents could soon see faster emergency response times as the town moves toward establishing its first police department, potentially ending its agreement with Williamson County for law enforcement services.

The town, which has seen rapid growth with a population nearing 10,000, is exploring the creation of a local police force to better address community needs, including traffic and parking issues.

“I’m very excited about the news,” Yumi Ely, a resident, said.

She said recent vandalism incidents, including attempts to break into the local pickleball courts, are signs that a dedicated police presence would be beneficial.

“Just the visual-ness of having their presence here will be amazing,” Ely said.
