WACO, Texas (KWTX) – The estate of the late and legendary Billy Joe Shaver now belongs to the local nonprofit Friends for Life.
Shaver, born in Corsicana and known for spending most of his life in Waco, is best remembered for country music classics like “I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal” and “Live Forever.”
Freddy Fletcher, executor of Shaver’s estate, officially signed over the property to Inez Russell, founder and executive director of Friends for Life, for use in the organization’s future programs. The home is located near Old Robinson Road and Alta Vista Drive.
The property will be used to support seniors and individuals with disabilities.
