WATERLOO, IOWA (KWWL) - The City of Waterloo welcomed three new members to its police force in a ceremony Monday night as Mayor Quentin Hart administered the oath of office to Nathan Elliott, Taylor McNamara, and Sead Sabanagic.
While the officers are now officially on the roster, they will first undergo several months of rigorous training, followed by a one year probationary period before becoming fully certified members of the department.
Waterloo police captain Jason Fraker says the addition of three officers at once is significant, but with several retirements expected in the near future, ongoing recruitment remains a top priority.
The department says it is continually recruiting and hopes to add even more officers in the months ahead.
