HUNTSVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - Sam Houston football is at the midway point of fall camp. The Bearkats head into the 2025 season with 55 transfers playing under a new coaching staff.
The team is led by head coach Phil Longo, who previously served as Sam Houston’s offensive coordinator from 2014-2016. Longo brought in 22 signees in January and added 33 more transfers after Spring camp.
“If I could take a million reps over ten years, I could be really good at something,” Longo said. “If I have to take a million reps in one year, I probably can’t get that many reps which means my opportunity to be as good at it is not as high. So, what we’re trying to do is get those amount of reps in a shorter time anyway.”
