HAMPTON, Va. — Congressman Bobby Scott (D, VA-03) visited VA Medical Centers in Hampton and Chesapeake on Wednesday, checking in on workers at both facilities.
Scott said the Department of Veterans Affairs' decision to terminate collective bargaining rights is only going to make ongoing staffing issues worse at several VA clinics.
"One of the worst things you can do is sabotage the workers by eliminating their collective bargaining agreement," said Scott. "When workers have banded together and decided to join a union, they know they can collectively bargain and they can communicate with the administration effectively. That right has been unilaterally taken away."
