PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Timbers have signed Norwegian international forward Kristoffer Velde to replace Jonathan Rodríguez, who suffered a season-ending injury, the club announced Wednesday.

Velde will join the Timbers this season, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 visa. He is under contract through the 2028 season, with a club option for 2029.

The transfer fee was not disclosed, but Velde will occupy a Designated Player spot, which allows clubs to sign players outside the MLS salary cap.

Velde, 25, joins Portland after playing the 2024-25 season with Olympiacos in the Greek Super League 1. He scored six goals and added two assists in 34 matches, helping Olympiacos win both the 2024-25 league title and the Greek Cup.
