KEELING — June Dixon saw a brochure at her church in Callands about a program designed to help seniors with small projects around the house.

She brought the pamphlet home and looked it over.

Then she prayed about it.

She decided to get an application from the Danville-Pittsylvania County Habitat for Humanity for the new initiative known as Aging in Place, which launched earlier this year.

It’s designed to aid residents 65 and older with modest upgrades to homes so they can have a safer space.

Dixon, who lives on Birch Creek Road in Keeling with her husband, got a call from Krystal Davis, the director of the local Habitat program.

Davis, along with Dave Motley, Habitat’s construction coordinator, paid a visit to access the situation.
