Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was making headway in the Cleveland Browns quarterback battle, but he may have just suffered a setback. According to the team, Sanders injured his oblique throwing early during joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday.

The Browns later clarified that Sanders had suffered an oblique strain and would be considered day-to-day in regards to an injury timetable. Per Zac Jackson of The Athletic , Sanders will not practice on Thursday and is unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Eagles.

Sanders put together an impressive performance during Cleveland's first preseason matchup against the Carolina Panthers , completing 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in the 30-10 victory. Dei
