Lamar Jackson has rescinded his No. 8 challenge against Troy Aikman -- and the two can now have beers together in peace.
The Baltimore Ravens quarterback has “withdrawn his challenge” to Aikman’s trademark use of the No. 8, per the Baltimore Sun and Sports Business Journal.
In a “decision to dismiss the case” published Tuesday, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office revealed that Jackson filed to withdraw the challenge Monday after originally filing the challenge in July 2024.
Jackson, who wears the No. 8, initially argued that Aikman’s trademark “would ultimately create a false connection with himself,” because Jackson “produces his own merchandise and branding featuring the number.”
