WOODLAND, Calif. —

If you haven't checked out a fair or festival so far this summer, you're in luck. The Yolo County Fair kicks off a five-day run Wednesday. The 132nd year of the Yolo County Fair, billed by organizers as the largest and oldest free gate fair in California, is set to run through Sunday.

Dozens of Future Farmers of America and 4H livestock competitors arrived at the fairgrounds early and prepared their animals for all the contests happening over next few days.

"This is my first show my first pig I'm showing," said Holly Nichols, the FFA Yolo vice president who is showing her 280-pound hog at the fair this year. "I've owned pigs and I've owned animals before but this is my first time actually here at the fair as a showman."
