HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- A man is behind bars after deputies say he set off a "sparkler bomb" at an Evansville construction site.

A release from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Department says 42-year-old Joshua Messic was arrested after an explosive device was detonated near INDOT workers at a job site. The workers were on a residential street adjacent to the Lloyd Expressway on Evansville’s west side.

The release goes on to say one worker was struck by what they described as a fireball, while two others in a vehicle were shaken by the explosion. After the explosion, a resident of the house directly north of the location, later identified as Messic, came out and admitted to the workers he had set off a “sparkler bomb.”
