One firefighter was injured following a raging six-story building fire Wednesday night near a Bronx hospital, the FDNY said.

Firefighters rushed to Carpenter Ave. and East 231st St. in Wakefield around 8:16 p.m., where a building fire had begun on the fourth floor, officials said. The building is near the Montefiore Medical Center-Wakefield Hospital .

The fire was placed under control at 9:08 p.m. The injured firefighter was rushed to a hospital; his condition was unknown.
