A former federal prosecutor mocked the Texas Attorney General on Wednesday after he suffered his latest loss in court.

Glenn Kirschner, a former Deputy U.S. Attorney, joined progressive YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen on the show "Legal Breakdown" to discuss the event. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sued state Democrats to force them to return from Illinois, which would allow Texas Republicans to pass new election maps that eliminate four districts held by Democrats of color.

Kirschner described Paxton's legal filing as a "Mickey Mouse civil warrant" because of how the judge reacted to it.

"Judge Larson looked at this filing and said, 'First of all, I don't have subject matter jurisdiction over this civil warrant that was issued by the Texas House of Representatives,'" Kirschner said.

"And then he went on to say in a four-page ruling, 'By the way, even if I did have subject matter jurisdiction, I think there may be a venue problem,'" he continued. "I think there may be a problem on the underlying merits of this claim. And that's just for openers."

"So basically, no, denied. Go away," Kirschner added.

Paxton and Governor Greg Abbott have made numerous threats against the Democrats since they left. For instance, Abbott has threatened to remove Democrats from their elected seats if they do not return. Abbot has also pledged to call a special session every 30 days until the Republicans pass their new election maps.

However, it seems those efforts could hit more "roadblocks," as Kirschner described them, because of Paxton's lawyering.

"This is beyond laughable, and it's really beyond poor lawyering," Kirschner said. "I think desperation and folly are perhaps the best ways to characterize this."
