FARGO — Maikol Escotto, who scored the winning run Tuesday night, did it again Wednesday with a home run in the ninth inning as Sioux City beat Fargo-Moorhead 2-1 in American Association play at Newman Outdoor Field.
Escotto buried an 0-2 pitch against Kyle Johnston over the left-field wall with two out in the ninth. The RedHawks now trail the Explorers by seven games in the West Division. The RedHawks lost a 10-inning affair on Tuesday when Escotto scored the deciding run.
Sioux City clinched a playoff spot with Wednesday night's victory.
RedHawks starter Kolby Kiser pitched seven strong innings allowing just four hits, including DShawn Knowles' RBI single in the first inning. Johnston worked the final two allowing one hit and a run while striking out two.
